Sometime we hear what we want to hear due to the stubborn and perverse nature of the human flesh. The nature of the flesh is to self destruct, yes that’s right… self destruct. Therefore when we go searching out our own desires we can easily miss the mark as Saul did in 1Samuel 15.
We hear what we want to hear concerning the order of the Lord and read what we want to read. The unfortunate part of hearing what we want is that one word overlooked could mean we forsaken Gods command and if we have forsaken Gods command, we have pretty much fallen away from fellowship.
I know many think it’s a sin such as killing or having and affair that causes us to lose fellowship with God but not so. According to 1 Samuel 15 Saul was disobedient to hear the total word of God. His disobedience was recorded as witch craft and rebellion. This means Saul sowed rebellion and witchcraft into his own life which would show up later in the following chapters as he was stripped of his leadership over Israel.
This is a good word for leaders, but also for each. Of us individually to take in to think on how much we’ve have hindered our progress due to desires of the flesh wanting or self willed situations. It takes a person sold out looking for Gods guidance and daily devotion to the word to overcome the lust of the flesh.
Rejecting the word of God is like saying I do not trust the will of God. Let’s pray that the old things meaning the flesh will past away and the new or restored in us ( Christ ) would be resurrected so that lives and generations would experience that which Christ came for… SALVATION!
“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.”1 Samuel 15:23 KJV
